______________________________________ About Adelaide
Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, is a very well planned city. The city centre has a grid of wide streets and various squares all within 1 square mile. This centre is surrounded by 930 hectares of parkland, including rose gardens and olive groves. The Torrens River runs through the centre, separating Adelaide and North Adelaide. The city centre is surrounded by diverse landscapes, including the Mount Lofty Ranges (Adelaide Hills) and fabulous coastal beaches.
South Australia's wine districts are world-renowned, with many well-known vineyards and boutique wineries only a short distance from Adelaide.
Adelaide has a relaxed and high-quality food and wine culture where fine dining, café culture and great bars mix together. Entire streets are devoted to dining. Stylish Rundle Street is given over to alfresco eating, especially Italian-style cafés. Gouger Street, home of a famous large fresh produce market, hosts great seafood and Asian cafés.
Adelaide is well known for its art and theatre. The Adelaide Festival of Arts, together with its sister event the Adelaide Fringe, is regarded as the most innovative in the world. There are a great variety of things to see while visiting Adelaide. Some of the many tourist attractions include:
Cleland Wildlife Park With over 120 species of Australian wildlife in open range and landscaped enclosures, this park lets you enjoy unique interactive wildlife experiences in a natural bushland setting. Here you can cuddle a koala or feed a kangaroo.
Adelaide Botanic Gardens These stunning gardens feature plants from around the world. At the Botanic Gardens, you can relax under one of the beautiful trees or admire the statues, water features and heritage buildings.
Mount Lofty Summit This summit overlooks some of the most picturesque scenery in South Australia. At 710 metres above sea level, it provides spectacular panoramic views of Adelaide and its coastline. For more information about Adelaide, please go to the official South Australian tourism website, which provides a comprehensive visitor guide (PDF 15.5 MB).
______________________________________ Visas for business travel to Australia
Travellers to Australia must have a valid visa before boarding their plane; they cannot apply for a visa on arrival. (Note: The only exception is New Zealand and Norfolk Island passport holders who will be issued a visa on arrival in Australia and normally do not need to lodge a visa application prior to their departure.)
Depending on the passport they hold, participants in the conference who will be travelling to Australia require either an ETA (Business Entrant) or a Business (Short Stay) Visa. These visas are intended for visits of up to 3 months.
For more information on how to apply for a visa, please visit the official Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.
If you require a visa, you are advised to apply for it as soon as possible (at least 4-6 weeks in advance of your intended date of travel). This is especially the case for participants who require a Business (Short Stay) Visa.
When you register to attend the conference, you will be asked to provide various personal details. Please ensure that the details you provide are complete and accurate. Incomplete or incorrect information may jeopardize your visa application.
